The rest of the site is now accessible, and among the new features of the site are all-new player profiles with pictures, a team page profiling the 3 current Quasar Tallaght teams, new downloads and new photos. Also there is a hidden message in one of the pages, can you be the first one to find out what it is? I've also put up a printable version of the Quasar 500 Rules in a new pop-up window. Plus if you look to the left corner of this page, you'll see a random quote [in the blue], one of many messages from the top of scoresheets over the years. Anyway, that's about it, go look at the site!

Last night was Regs Night! And in what was actually a big turnout for recent times, 8, yes EIGHT people played, including all 5 of the MOTU team from the last 2 competitions for the first time since the last competition. Also there was two-thirds of KY, Ger Byrne and Colin McAnaspie, plus Angela Dwane and Chris Power. I know that's nine, but Ger didn't play because he's poor. Anyway, we got 3 and 1/2 games, and I got to try out my new shorts! And that's about it.

It's been a very long while since the last update, and as you can see the news page has a new layout and is not on Geocities anymore. Since the end of June i've been learning html properly and i've been converting the existing pages of the site from page builder [Geocities drag and drop tool] to normal html, whilst adding a few nifty features to the pages and overall making them look and feel a lot smoother. I've been doing this offline, so I haven't posted up the new improved pages yet, and since i've only a couple of more pages to do, I should have the new site up sometime next week. I've given myself the deadline of next Sunday [the 28th] and until then, i'll have to shut down the rest of the site in order to update the files.
Also, i've been looking at alternative options to the Geocities AdSquare that you see when you enter the site throught Geocities, and the error messages when you enter the site through the www.quasar.cjb.net domain. This has involved searching the net for free webspace providers without ads, and url redirection services that can function with Geocities without the annoying error messages. I have now changed [although www.quasar.cjb.net still works] the address of the site to www.quasar.pro.ie, which is a "pro Irish" redirection service with only a small pop-up ad on the front page. In the last few weeks i've gone through a couple of new web space providers such as www.freewebz.com which I didn't choose because the server seemed too slow even with my cable modem connection, and i've decided to use www.brinkster.com. Brinkster is free with no-ads [pop-up or banner] and more than enough webspace and bandwidth, so i'll be posting the new site there for an initial trial period of about a month, while keeping Geocities just in case. If it doesn't workout, I'll go back to Geocities in spite of the AdSquare, because basically I don't think that there are any other worthwhile free space providers at the moment. The address for the Brinkster site is www16.brinkster.com/quasartallaght which isn't the easiest to remember, so the www.quasar.cjb.net www.quasar.pro.ie will take care of the domain name.
That's it for now. Sorry for any inconvenience.
