Yesterdays regs night saw my words come back to haunt me, with only 6 people playing, and only just. Both Daves were present but didn't play (work, knees) while Conor was nowhere and everywhere at the same time. The Jammy Dodgers proved that they don't have the money to play regs night, Blondie *forgot* to drag Shane up, and John McGann was his usual self - not in Quasar. So it was Kevin, Al, Karl, Colin Blondie and Ger, to give us 3 × 3 v 3 games. The first 2 were half hour Energise 2 games, with the teams as follows: Kev, Ger, Colin, Vs Al, Karl, Blondie. We won the first by 10 points, while they won the return by about 50. The next game was Super 3, half hour, and the teams saw Kev, Karl, Colin, get beaten by Alan, Blondie and Ger. We would have played another game except Blondie and Ger suck, so we left it at that. The highlight of Regs Night was undoubtedly the Granny-Zar type CP game that was booked in during regs night, which was a bunch of about 20 middle-aged to old women, cackling around the arena and having an altogether great time. Much better than bingo, and John McGann would surely be kicking himself that he missed it. And can you believe the "Thanks Talk to you soon"?? Until when next I feel like it - We're all Tough Guns!"

It's Funday Monday Morning Madness, and although there is no madness in the games, to name it as such shows madness, and hence the title. Anyways, not since when Trev worked in Quasar (and we could get half hour games for £1.25 and a 50p off voucher) has Quasar been this much value. 7 good games each (6 of which were 6 v 6 E4) for the steal of the century - €5.90. As per usual we had a mini-competition, complete with random teams, this time involving 3 × 6 player teams. That's 18 people for those who can't count. Fun was had, not least when we gave Blondie the leper treatment, complete with circle, and when Karl fell foul to the old roll over trick, and almost broke his neck. The mini-comp was great, because my team won (well d'uh), although the honour of being unbeaten in all games goes to only 2 people, Al McMahon, and novice Keith Raftery. Until Wednesday..
In other "news", The Quasar Coolock website (as run by Angela) has all new player profiles, complete with strengths and weaknesses, and interesting facts, so go check them out here.

14 people turned up for a big Regs Night last night, there were the 4 Jammy Dodgers (Paddy, Karl, Zack, Stephen), 4 of MOTU (Dave, Dave2, Al, Kev) , 3 KY (Ger, Colin, Blondie) and then Karl Kelly, John McGann and Ian, who played for the first time in over 2 years on Sunday. We managed to squeeze in 4 half hour long games, and I'm pleased to say that there were very few pack problems. Both the 10s were a bit iffy, so they weren't used, and there were no real problems with anything else. Anyway, now that KY have their 5 (John & Karl) for the competition, maybe we could have some proper challenge matches - as opposed to KY moaning each Wednesday when we want to play to together since they'd get their asses kicked! As is the norm these days, Ger was feeling "sick", and Conor was nowhere to be seen. But the latter had better not happen next Tuesday. Also, next Monday Morning, we will have an "exclusive" Tallaght regs morning, and nobody has any excuse not to be there because it's a Bank Holiday.
Site related, I forgot to ask Dave for Atlanta Photos yesterday (he probably forgot to get them developed), so all being well I'll get them on Friday, and have them on the site by Saturday's end. But then again, I said I'd have them a month ago.....
Only 155 days to go!

Happy Birthday Dave McMahon, 22 years old today. It seems to be a busy time, it was Karl's birthday (20) last Wednesday, and Stephen Warren's last Friday (16). And both Alison and Angela's are coming up in November. That's it as far as updates are concerned, just remember to Vote KEV no1! No, seriously. Plus I can't believe it took me 3 days to mention that we're sitting on top of the League

2000 Hits!! Actually at the moment it's 2001. And in less than 3 months, so who says Quasar is dead? That's pretty much all the update was for. Until next time. "I wanna live, breath, I wanna be part of the human race."

The usual regs night update: 9 regs were present yesterday, 6 of whom played, making 4 games of 3 vs 3. For the first 2 it was KY (Ger,Colin, Blondie) versus John McGann, Karl Kelly and Alan McMahon, with KY losing with both colours. For the next game Alan and Blondie switched, and Alan yet again won. Ger felt sick so I played in his place in the last game: teams were Kev, Colin, Karl vs Alan, Blondie, John, and as usual Alan's team won, by 5 points. Daves 1 & 2 were both present, but didn't play for whatever reason, and Conor was probably at home playing "Hitman 2", and trying to complete it (again). The packs were fine, as usual, and although Ireland lost, we can all take solace in the fact that we're not the only country who couldn't beat Macedonia :). We also managed to figure out that with 18 regs playing week in week out (yay we can count), we should almost definitely have 3 × 5 man teams to represent the centre in the World Tournament that is apparently going ahead on the 28th, 29th and 30th of March, 2003. Or would it be better if we had 4 teams of 4? Or maybe 9 teams of 2? You get the point.

Regs night update today - 9 people played last night, although it was only eight for the first 2 of the 4 games that we had, since David was working beforehand. Anywho, the full 5 compliment of Masters Of The Universe players were there, although the others wouldn't let us play together and get in some much needed team practice. The first 2 games were Conor, Blondie, Colin and Kev against Al, Dave, Karl and Ger, which were 2 good (but not great) games. The third was an uneven affair, but even still the team with 5 players only won by about 12 points. After 3 games some people (Colin, Conor, Blondie, Ger ) couldn't continue because they have got no stones, so 4 of us played out a 15 minute solo Eliminator, which I wouldn't usually mention, except for the fact that I won.
Voting on the Number of Players Poll has finished, with the result an overwhelming 87% majority for 5 man teams, the final count was 33 to 5 against 4, while no-one voted for any different number (not even for a joke). So I think it's pretty clear what everybody wants. A McFlurry......

Wednesday Night became Challenge Match Night for a spell yesterday, as MKS travelled south to Tallaght to play a 5 man match against a selection of Tallaght players. The teams were as follows:
* Tallaght * | MKS |
Colin McAnaspie (KY) Ger Byrne (KY) Al O'Loughlin (KY) Dave Shiels (MOTU) Karl Kelly | John McLeod Graham Pimlott Philly Doyle Richard O'Connor Chris Power (Reapers) |
After the first of 2 × 15 minute games, *Tallaght*, who were Red, won by 21 points. The second game was won by MKS, so the Match was shared, but with a victory of only 9 points, so *Tallaght* won overall.
Regs Night came afterwards, for which some Coolock players stayed, with 2 × E4 half hour games, and then a MOTU versus the rest to finish the night off. John McGann turned up, proving that he wasn't dead, and we managed to get a 7 v 7 game during the night, the best turnout in a long time.

----- Important Announcement -----
It was revealed by Angela on the msg brds today that due to a management decision, the proposed mini-tournament to be held in Quasar Coolock in November has been
cancelled. Apparently there is nothing to be done about this, but it seems at the moment that the March World Tournament should be going ahead as planned. Keep up to date on the Message Boards.
After 3 days of the
Number of Players Poll, the vote count stands at a pretty comprehensive 25 votes (89%) to 3 (11%) in favour of 5 man teams over 4 man teams. Nobody has as yet voted for another number. I'll keep the poll open for the next week or so, and I'd ask people
not to vote multiple times, because we want a fair estimate of people's opinions. But it seems quite obvious what the preference is at this stage.
