Yet again we managed to squeeze in 5 games during regs night, this time it was 4 × 20 minutes and 1 × 30 mins to finish up. Overall, 10 people played, a very good turnout considering, and participants were: Kev, Al, Dave, Conor, Paddy, Zack, Ger, Colin, Warren and Karl Kelly.
Since 2 people had yet to show up, for the 1st game the teams were the Jammy Dodgers and Al (Al, Warren, Zack and Paddy) (Green) versus Colin, Karl, Ger and Conor (Red). It was a close game for the most part, but the Green team won by 64pts in the end. The next game was the same teams with different colours, with Kev going with the losers from the first games, and even later arriver Dave Sheils going with Al and the JDs. They won again, this time by 40pts.
The teams were switched around for the 3rd game (20 mins) with Zack and Paddy picking. Zack was fortunate to win the rock-paper-scissors "coin-toss" and got Al, Dave, Colin and Ger (Red) , while Paddy was left with Kev, Conor, Karl and Warren (Green) . Despite what looked like grossly unfair teams, most of the Green team were bemused with losing, having scored 2 bases (Paddy and Kev) and seeing Al on the other team having his self-professed "worst game ever". Nonetheless, the extremely jammy Red team won by 48pts.
Once more the teams were changed, this time with Kev and Karl picking. The teams ended up being Al, Kev, Warren, Paddy and Zack (Green) versus Conor, Dave, Colin, Ger and Karl (Red). Despite a latecomeback by the Red team who had been losing for the vast majority of the game, they couldn't keep the slight lead that they held for the last couple of minutes, and the Green team won by 82pts.
The teams were the same for the last game (different colours) and this time the losers got their revenge, winning by 96pts in the last game, which was a half-hour game, thanks to some apathetic play from most of the Red team (Get over it.)
Notable absentees were Karl Laffan and Blondie (Angela being in Galway for the next 20-odd Wednesdays) which would have given us a 6 on 6, and of course John McGann, but not to worry, there's always next week. Well, not now that I've said it."Are you screaming? Er, dreaming??...success never sleeps!"

135 minutes of Quasar were played last night, only 5 minutes more than usual but seemingly much longer since 5 games were played (1 × 15 mins & 4 × 20 mins). Nine (9) people overall showed up, them being Conor, Dave, Al, Blondie, Ger, Kev, Colin, Zack, Paddy. The first game was a 15 minute warm up, on the long-forgotten E2 format, with Kev, Paddy, Blondie, Conor (Green) beating Al, Colin, Ger, Zack (Red) by 44pts despite a late comeback.
No sooner had that game ended (at around 8.30pm) when Dave Shiels arrived, and the second game teams were thought up. This saw Dave, Al, Colin and Paddy (Green) pitted against the 5 man team of Kev, Conor, Blondie, Ger and Zack (Red). The game was hardly a contest with the green team winning comfortably. In the return leg, however, (same teams, different colours) the 4 man team won again, but this time by only 13pts.
We decided after that game to play some Supercharge 3 games, the first of which had Kev, Dave, Paddy, Blondie, Ger (Red) against Al, Colin, Conor and Zack (Green). The Red team won by 75pts, and strangely not one base was scored. The final game had yet another mix up of teams, with Dave, Conor, Blondie and Colin (Red) beating Al, Kev, Paddy, Ger and Zack (Green) by 22pts in a tired game, thanks in large to the sabotage of the green pillar energiser....
The best regs night in weeks (probably months) was the general consensus afterwards - in terms of both turn out and game quality. Only one question remains though: Where were John, Karl K, Karl L, Warren and Angela? Since with only 3 of them we could have played E4 6 on 6.
It's competition time again - with the upcoming South Shields competition on October the 4th and 5th, and after that an American Tournament in Tampa early in November. So far Al, Dave, Angela, Colin, Ger, Paddy and Warren are definitely going to South Shields - with Karl Kelly to book his tickets. This means that there might possibly be 2 teams from Tallaght, at what is setting up to be a big competition. As for Tampa, no-one is sure just yet, but as always, there is plenty of interest. Sunday Morning saw the first day of our new, improved and more training oriented SMC. 4 "proper" games were played after the first, which was a big and messy mixed game. These games were all 6 on 6, with the participants being Al, Kev, Conor, Paddy, Ger, Karl L, Zack, Warren, Jason, Ben, Keith, and Martin (SMCP selected for the day). Good games and good fun, mostly since they were played in the Energise 4 format. Here's hoping for more of the same on Wednesday. Also, Friday Night as a training night is due to be resurrected this week, with all regulars and some Sunday Morning regulars invited up for some much needed practice and hopefully, development.

A few updates to catch up on now, since It's been a very lazy week. Starting off with yesterdays small but good SMC, where we played 4 games, all of which were Super 3. For the first 2 games the teams were 3 × JDs - Paddy, Karl, Zack plus Kev versus Al, Colin, Keith, Eoin and Ben. The Green team won both Games, the "JDs" won the first by 52pts, but lost the return leg by 128pts. The third and fourth games saw Kev, Zack, Colin, Ben versus Al, Paddy, Keith, Eoin and Karl. The former won both games - the first by around 30pts and the return by exactly 100. Absentees were Warren, Conor, Ger, Karl, Blondie (all for unkown reasons), Angela (returning to College) and Dave Shiels (in work).
Last Wednesday was yet another pitiful one in terms of attendance, with only 7 people playing. Those were Al, Dave, Angela, Ger, Kev, Colin and Karl, who turned up late. The first game was supposed to be a 3 on 3, with Al, Kev and Dave to take on Angela, Colin and Ger, but Dave didn't start until the last 10 minutes. This didn't change the result however, the team of 2 were already winning well, and in the end won by 397pts. The teams had to be changed for the next won, since Karl arrived, and the teams were then Kev, Colin, Karl and Ger versus Dave, Al and Angela. The team of four won out by 223pts after the 3-man-team capitulated half way through (after a well timed base :)). Angela left before the last game, for which the teams were 3 on 3 - Al, Karl and Colin versus Dave, Kev and Ger. The game was split into 2 personal duels - Al and Karl versus Dave and Kev at the bases, while Colin took on (annihilated) Ger along the back wall. The green team (Kev, Dave, Ger) won by 43pts.
This week, Regs Night has had to be rescheduled for Thursday (the 11th) because Wednesday is the day when the Junior Cert results come out, and N/Plex will be overun with 15/16 year olds. "I'd say you're the second best priest!"
