There was a pretty small turnout for SMC yesterday, we played 2 4v4 games and 2 5v5s. Those playing were Dave Sheils, Angela, Ger, Kev, Colin, Paddy, Keith, Zack, Jason and Bort. All games played were Supercharge 3, and they were 4 easy, good-spirited games (for a change) with some good play, and most packs worked! This whole SMC was, of course, following the "party" in Angela's, which featured much pool, Fifa 2002, salt, whipped cream?, bad music, pictionary (as usual), bad/burnt snack food and the Coronation of the Dance-Mat Queen :). A good time was had by all (except maybe Ger).

Last Wednesdays update was missed, because, well, I'm a lazy idiot, but it was quite a good regs night, with 10 people showing and 5 games, all of which were good/exciting/comfortable. But John McGann's absence questioned whether or not we should break Gers legs....again.

With no forthcoming competitions or challenge matchs, and lets face it, no foreseeable excitement of any sort, now is the perfect time to canvass Player's Player Ranking votes (we have recieved 4 votes/opinions so far) and to have a meeting or discussion about the state of Quasar in Ireland. This will involve rule clarification for those who don't understand them so well. It is an idea that seems to be gathering steam and support, so we should proceed with it soon.

As for site updates, well, yeah right, if and when the mood takes me, which could be tomorrow, or it could be in a months time. "The pot will call the kettle black"

Regs night last night saw the return of John McGann, the re-outlawing of caps (finally), having to pay at Main Reception and 3 good games. The first 2 were E2, the first game saw the Red team (Al, Conor, Kev, Paddy) beat the Green team (Dave, Zack, Colin, John) comfortably by around 200pts, and in the return leg, played after much complaining by the losers, the Red colour proved stronger again, this time by 50pts. The last game was Super 3, with Ger taking the place of Conor who had an emergency, and the teams were Green: Dave, Kev, John, Ger versus Red: Al, Colin, Zack, Paddy. The Green team won by around 100pts, another enjoyable game. Now that my printer is working again, new profiles will be posted on the Noticeboard over the weekend, while the ranking poll might just begin properly soon enough... "But that's not soon enough"

Sorry about the absence of a Regs Night Update during the week, anyway 12 people played so we had 6 v 6, and three good games. The particpants were: Al, Dave2, Blondie, Ger, Kev, Angela, Colin, Karl, Karl L., Zack, Paddy, Warren.

On to Sunday morning this morning, and a rather less enthusiastic and smaller regs turnout. There were 7 people for the first 2 games, so they were 3v4. The first game saw Dave2, Colin, Ger and Keith beat Conor, Angela and Kev by merely 12 points. For the second game random teams were picked, leaving Colin, Keith, Angela and Kev against Dave2, Conor and Ger. This game went rather less well for the 4 man team, who lost by about 60pts. Pissed off, Angela sat out the last game, and Colin "had to" leave, so Bort, Jason and Ben were chosen from the CP games to give us a 4 on 4 in the last. The teams were randomised once more, and they came out with Ger and the 3 newcomers versus Conor, Dave, Kev and Keith. The latter team won comfortably, by 300 pts approx. while Keith managed 2 bases. In conclusion the games were not great, forgettable, and nobody was particularly in a great mood, as is the norm on Sunday Morning. Good thing Karl was there then. Other noticeable abstentees were the Jammy Dodgers, so I get to keep Zacks DVD. We were also payed a quick and surprise visit from former Quasar veteran Shane O'Neill, but he just popped in so don't count on a comeback. Nice to see him again all the same.

Quasar Ireland (I should really change the link) aka Angela's site has a Bedford competition review and others updated recently, and photos (from a real camera) are on the way soon also. So go now if you haven't seen. New player profiles will be posted on the noticeboard midweek, replacing Zack and Conors, and Regarding this site: photos from last week's competition (all 10 of them!) will be up within the week, and expect new-look online profiles soon, but please, don't hold your breath....

10 people played Regs Night yesterday: Al, Conor, Kev, Karl K, Colin, Paddy, Zack, Angela, Ger, Warren. 4 games were played, 2 E2 and 2 Super 3. For the first 2 games the teams were Kev, Conor, Ger, Paddy, Angela versus Al, Zack, Warren, Colin, Karl with the latter team winning both games by around 100pts each. The third game was closer, with Kev, Colin, Karl, Warren, Zack beating Al, Conor, Angela, Paddy, Ger by around 15pts. The last game was a 5 v 4 Super 3 game, Al, Conor, Ger, Karl versus Kev, Colin, Zack, Warren and Paddy. 4 good games, a tiring wednesday night and best of all, Colin got Punk'd!!

There was much Monday Morning Madness this morning - 12 people showed up and along with a few 6 on 6 E4 games, we also had the usual 3 × 4-player-team mini competition. With random teams, of course. The teams were as follows: Team A: Bort, Jason, Paddy, Kev; Team B: Ger, Karl K, Karl L, Dave 2; Team C: Ben, Colin, Keith, Zack. Each team played each other team twice, once each colour, and the games were 10 minutes long and Supercharge 3. Team B won the competition, going unbeaten, while Team A came second (after a final game 2nd/3rd place decider) even though they were the only team not to get a base, while Team C were last. We had 2 E4 games to start, and 3 to finish, so all in all it was good value for the €6.35 price, to say the least.

Sunday, June 01, 2003

There was a small Sunday Morning Club on today, not many people around due to the bank holiday weekend and the soon-to-start exams. So what little regs turned up went in for mixed games with the few SMCPs. There were 14 people overall, the regs playing where Colin, Kev, Dave 2, Karl (although Ger and Warren showed up). We managed to get 5 games in, and there was a good bit of frustration since apart from Keith and Bort (and Jason and Ben) none of the CPs really have a clue. The games were as good as can be expected from the circumstances, and not that bad for 70c.

Tomorrow morning there will be a "Monday Morning Madness", the usual rules and conditions apply - price is between €5 - €8, and we play from 10am to early in the afternoon. There should be at least 12 people showing up, so it should be good."Come on people - this isn't a spectator sport!!"
