Regs Night started at the new and improved time of 8.00pm, or at least it was supposed to. The problem being that only 3 of us were there at that time. Either way, since there were no staff on Quasar, it's just as well that only 8 of us played - there was a mountain of low batteries. The first 2 games saw MOTU (Kev, Conor, Dave, Al) demolish John "Bar", Angela, Warren and Ger - first by 571pts and then by 737pts in Super 3. These big victories were brought on by returns to form of Conor and Dave, who scored 7 bases in the second game alone. No sign of JDs Zack, Karl and Warren, or 4/5ths of KY - Karl, Blondie, Colin and John. They must be saving themselves (and their money) for Friday. The final game was much more balance than the 2 which preceeded it - despite the red team of "Bar", Angela, Al and Conor leading for practically the whole game, Dave, Kev, Ger and Warren won it in the end by only 21pts. Although it was only 10.10pm when the 3rd game ended, and in usual circumstances we would probably be able to get 2 more in, the 'wonderful' Le'Plex management didn't feel like dealing with Quasar, so that was that. A good regs night all the same.

Do Not Forget: The Overnight is on this Friday from 10pm to sometime Saturday afternoon - all players are welcome and fun should be had. Be there and be square."I hate the way your team always calls!!"

Another Wednesday, another regs night - the only difference with this week's one being that there were a few more people than usual, along with some very enjoyable games. 9 people paid and played: Al, John, Conor, Karl K, Kev, Zack, Blondie, Paddy, Warren, while Dave Shiels was around but didn't play, and Colin was in work. Despite the fact that a CP game went in midway through the night, we still managed to get 4 games in - 1 × 15 min, and 3 × 30 min. The first game was Al, Kev, Conor and John (Green) versus Zack, Blondie, Paddy, Warren, Karl (Red) and the greens won the 15 minute game by 25pts. This prompted a rematch, which was a half hour long, with the 4 man team coming out on top again - this time more organised - by the much more convincing difference of 155pts. John and myself picked the teams for the third game, which was, to be honest, a recipe for disaster. The teams ended up being John, Zack, Karl, Paddy (Green) versus Al, Kev, Conor, Warren and Blondie (Red). A man-marking system was employed by the 5 man team for this one, which made things special.... After a whole game of running after the one player and sticking to them like glue (if you could) the Red team had predictably won, but by only 64pts. Our final game was a 4 on 4 because Warren sat it out, pitting Al, Karl, John and Zack against Conor, Blondie, Kev and Paddy. After 15 minutes both John and Conor left because they were "exhausted", and in the remaining 3 on 3 match, Al, Karl and Zack won out by 94pts.

A Reminder: The Quasar Tallaght Players' Meeting will take place in Leisureplex Tallaght tonight from 9.00pm. Players are requested to be on time (preferably early) where many things will be discussed, in a very uncivilised and spiteful manner........."By building a casino, I could tighten my stranglehold on this dismal town!"

SMC was an enjoyable one yesterday - since Alan switched shifts and Colin was in work, we got to have MOTU versus the rest for 2 games. The rest being Ger, Zack, Keith, Eoin and Karl Laffan. Both games were won more than comfortably and some things were discovered: Dave needs to work on his "bonging", Conor has not yet 'returned' from his vacation, Zack is either a hider or an ass bandit (following people for reflexes). Dave had to go early for work, and Blondie turned up for the last game. The teams were: Al, Conor, Zack, Karl and Eoin versus Kev, Ger, Blondie and Keith. The former won by almost double scores. Then came another home defeat for Liverpool....

Over the next week I will be working on updating the Teams page, because it needs work, the fruits of which should be viewable by the weekend.

And finally, there will be a Tallaght Players' Meeting held in Quasar this Thursday - hopefully starting at 9.00pm. All "Regs" are requested to be in attendance, preferably at around 8.30pm. Among things being discussed will be Regs Nights, Rules, Travelling and the prospect of an Overnight. "Why is the world such a cesspool of corruption?"

Wednesday's regs night was good. Above average in enjoyment, but below average in turnout. Unless, of course, 6 people becomes the average. There were "legitimate" reasons for the absence of Dave Shiels and Al O'Loughlin - they got their leaving cert results. Colin and Angela just apparently had better things to do - while John McGann has fell off the planet. We managed to squeeze in 4 games because we got started early. The first game was Al, Kev and Conor versus Karl, Paddy and Ger. The MOTU players won and won comfortably (a fact to which my outshoot of 80 will testify). The teams were then changed, and it became Kev, Conor, Ger versus Al, Karl, Paddy - the latter winning by a mere 4pts first time round. In the second leg, however, they won by almost double scores. As per usual the 4th game was a bridge to far for Old Man Farrell, so Zack took his place. This one was a 15min game, Karl, Kev and Zack losing to Ger, Al and Paddy by 30pts. But that's not important. "They've taken the SHIP!!"

For the first time in a number of weeks, Monday Night in Coolock was alive and kicking, with 10 people playing, and packs that worked. Maybe it has something to do with Brendan's departure. Anyway, 3 games of Supercharge 6 lives were played, and enjoyed by all. The first game saw Al, Kev, Peanut, Jamie, Rob Conroy (Green) beat Craig, Mikey, Philly, Dave Sheils and Rob (Red) by around 50pts, probably only because the reds were without Philly for half the game. Teams were picked properly for the next game, which saw Al, Craig, Kev, Peanut, and Rob Conroy (Red) beat Dave, Philly, Mikey, Jamie and Rob (Green) by a mere 5 points, after having been behind for most of the game but for a great comeback right at the death. This meant that we had to do a same teams, different colours game, which was comfortably won this time by the Reds, with Al, Kev, Craig and Peanut contributing 2 bases each to the cause. 3 pretty good games after a decent turnout at last, let's hope there's more of the same next week.

Sunny weather used to bring out the Quasar people, now it seems to ward them off - SMC this morning was quiet to say the least, with 6 people playing the SMCPs game, and only 7 in the Regs games. For the first game it was 3 on 3 however, Paddy, Zack and Ben being beaten by Kev, Keith and Eoin by the small margin of 13pts in a 20 minute slow-ish game of Supercharge 3. Before the next game Karl Kelly arrived, and we then changed the teams somewhat. The 3 player team of Kev, Zack and Keith beat Karl, Paddy, Eoin and Ben by roughly 150pts in a half-hour long game which was the best of the day. The last was another lobsided one - Karl, Kev, Ben and Eoin beating Paddy, Zack and Keith very comfortably, and scoring 5 bases along the way. Conor also popped up for a spell, announcing his intention to return from a short Quasar holiday on Wednesday. Therefore, although it is Leaving Cert night and we will most likely be without Dave Shiels or Blondie, we should be able to beat the mere six players that showed up last week. "I hope you all remembered to bring in your implements of destruction"

Just about less than a week since the last post, and there are 3 happenings to be updated on:

Sunday Morning (2nd) - Another low regs turnout for smc this week, Dave Shiels, Angela and Colin all confessed to being too lazy to get out of bed in time, while Blondie, Conor and Stephen Warren were nowhere to be seen. As that was the case, there were a few smcps in the games, which being Supercharge 3 with a low number and standard, weren't that great. Neither was Terminator 3, but it is a pretty cool and enjoyable movie.

Monday Morning (3rd) - It's like an enigma, how come you can manage 14 people turning up on a Bank holiday, yet struggle to find 10 people for Regs Nights? We weren't complaining on Monday though, as we managed to get 4 × 30 minute E4 7 v 7 games in before lunchtime. And they were pretty good aswell. Although it would be easier to list the people who didn't show (for once), "props" should be given to Al, Kev, Dave, Karl, Ger, Angela, Blondie, Colin, Karl L, Zack, Paddy, Keith, Eoin & Ben for making Monday a good one.

Wednesday Night (6th) - Like the reg's nights of old, unfortunately, with only 6 of us turning up. For the first game the teams were MOTU's 3 versus KY's 3: Al, Dave, Kev versus Karl, Colin, Ger. "MOTU" won by a little over 350pts, and then we had to change the "unfair" teams. For the next game the teams were Kev, Dave, Ger (Green) versus Al, Colin, Karl (Red). In a much more even game, the Red team won out by precisely 90pts. I blame Ger, because, well it was his fault! Another reg-hijacked CP game was played by some, and the final game was a solo eliminator between Kev, Al, Dave, Ger and Karl, because nobody could decide what to do. Karl was first to be eliminated, followed quickly by Ger, and despite grabbing different packs and coming back in or getting bases, they both came last. Who won? I can't quite remember....

3 more Tallaght ranking sheets are to be returned: those of Al McMahon, Colin McAnaspie and Stephen Warren.
