All in all a pretty standard regs night was had last night, with a good turnout of 10 people (overall) and a new staff member to amuse us with his naievity/stupidity. We squeezed in 4 games, although 1 was only 15 minutes, and probably would have had one more but for Karl. All the games were Supercharge 3, and participants were Al, Kev, Karl, Colin, Ger, Paddy, Warren, Ben & Chris, while Dave Sheils popped in after work for the last 2 games. The first game was Al, Kev, Chris & Ben versus Colin, Karl, Ger, Paddy & Warren with the 4 man team winning pretty comfortably by 160pts. Thinking that he'd get hammered seemed to have no effect on Chris, getting a base within the first minute. For some reason, a return leg was called for, and this time Colin, Karl, Ger, Paddy & Warren won, but by only 64pts, which meant that Al, Kev, Chris & Ben won by 96pts overall.

It was at this point that Dave arrived, and we went in for a 15 minute game because there was a CP game coming up afterwards. The teams were Al, Colin, Warren, Ger & Karl versus Kev, Dave, Chris, Ben & Paddy. The Green team won again, this time despite a late comeback, winning by only 17pts. Another 5 minutes and we would have had them. In went the CP game afterwards, and then came our final game. Karl & Kev fought it out in the Rock-Paper-Scissors contest to see who'd pick first, and the teams ended up being Kev, Al, Ger, Paddy & Ben versus Karl, Colin, Chris & Warren (with Dave coming in with 5 minutes left). After roughly 30 seconds the game was over with the first base to the Red team, and with over 5 more of the same to follow, and Supercharges for Kev, Al, Ger & Ben(!) the game was never in doubt. That plus the sight of Karl and Chris crawling on the floor at the Green Energiser. The Red team won by 184pts, and even though it was only 10.30pm when we came out, we delayed too much on making teams for the last game (Karl decided to try to soak everyone...) and couldn't get another. No Quasar for Conor, Blondie, John, Karl L yesterday, maybe they'll show next week, although Regs Night could be Matrix Revolutions pending. We'll have to wait and see (and trust Ger). FYI: Regs Night is tonight, just so you don't "forget".

Monday Morning Madness was business as usual 2 days ago, with 12 people showing we played 5 games of Energise 4, 6 v 6. There were a lot of notable absentees, namely Conor, Dave, Karl K, Angela, Colin, Karl L, John & Blondie. There were however, an ample supply of SMC regulars who were capable of making up numbers, so the games went ahead. Al, Kev, Zack, Paddy, Ger, Warren, Coju, Bort, Jay, Ben, That Guy & Martin made up the 12 participants. In a change from normal MMMs we played 6v6 (randomly picked each time of course) as opposed to splitting into 3 teams of 4 (or 4 teams of 3) for a mini competition, and it was probably just aswell. I'm happy to report that there were no "cheap" packs, the only changes were made when people had problems with their own guns, and even still there were only a handful of them. I'm not too much in the mood for listing the teams and point scores off (not that I could remember them), but I can remember as being the only player to win all the games (:)), that it was fun. Regs Night: Despite the "low" turnout last week and the stupid knee-jerk reaction from some to it, we managed to get 10 normal regs up last night, along with newcomer Ben. Dave, Blondie & Conor were clearly affected by Al's indictment of their lack of committment during the week, and showed up to set the record straight. Usual Suspects Al, Conor, Kev, Karl also showed, while radicals Ger, Paddy and Warren completed the group. The first game was a 6 on 5 E4 game, 30 minutes long, and saw MOTU (Kev, Al, Conor, Dave) + Ben take on Colin, Ger, Karl, Warren, Blondie & Paddy. Smart use of their numerical disadvantage saw the Green team come out victorious by 129pts, illustrating the lack of intelligence of most of the opposition. We decided to go in for a same-teams, different colours game, and after 15 or so minutes it was heading in the same direction (ie, a win for MOTU + Ben) when lightning and thunder struck and knocked out the power. No power, no game, no scoresheets, and no chance to prove that you can't always use "bad packs" as an excuse for losing. The game had to be abandoned, and although the power returned just moments later, we decided to change the teams for the 3rd game.

Kev and Karl picked, and the teams ended up as Al, Kev, Ger, Blondie & Warren versus Conor, Dave, Paddy, Colin, Ben and Karl. The Reds used their 1 player advantage to good effect, to win by 103pts. This despite the clinical defence/defensive float of the greens, because their float/attack of Blondie and Warren were outnumbered and outgunned.

The last game had Paddy and Warren picking teams, and they picked them as follows: Warren, Al, Kev, Colin, Blondie & Ben versus Paddy, Dave, Conor, Karl & Ger. With a base-happy attack and an extra man in defence, the Green team won well in the end, by 139pts. So we need new players? Not on your life. But it's too late now, so we might as well just get on with it. "Well, I'm better than dirt -- well, most kinds of dirt. I mean, not that fancy store-bought dirt. That stuff's loaded with nutrients. I -- I can't compete with that stuff."

South Shields photos (30) are up on the site now, watch out for bodyless arms and something called the reen ba (Green Base). Anywho, go to the photos page, and if you can't find the link there, no directions will help you.

In other "news", there were 2 Quasar birthdays in the last week. Karl Kelly is now 21, which is just as well since it was his 21st last Saturday. And Stephen Warren celebrated his 17th by not turning up for Regs Night. And that is that, like anybody gives a shit...

There was a pretty lame turnout for Regs Night yesterday: 7 people - Al, Kev, Karl K, Paddy, Colin, Ger & Zack. No sign of Conor, Blondie, Dave, Warren, Karl L, and (obviously) John and Angela. As if that was bad enough, the first game was a 3 on 2: Al & Colin versus Ger, Paddy & Zack. The 3 man team won, only just (by less than 20pts). The second game was the same teams, different colours, and saw a big reversal with Al and Colin winning by over 100pts, and the late entrances of Kev and Karl offering nothing new to the game.

The third game was when Regs Night essentially began. This was a 3 on 4, 20 minute, Supercharge 3 game (as were the rest) which had Al, Colin & Karl pitted against Kev, Paddy, Zack & Ger. The reds won in the end of a close game, by 30pts. The final 2 games had Al, Kev & Zack take on Colin, Ger, Paddy & Karl. For the first game the 3 man team were Green, and despite leading for practically the whole game, and scoring a base, they lost by 4pts. The return leg was much the same, but the 3 man team this time won the game on the final download, by 4pts. Suggestions of a 10 minute game to determine a winner were laughed off by the tired people, and so we called it a day. "Why don't you make like a tree and get outta here!"

It's been a while since the last update, so we've missed 2 Sunday Mornings, 1 Regs Night and the South Shields competition. I've been quite busy (believe it or not). Anyways, hopefully normal service can be resumed now, and we'll start off with last nights Regs Night. It wasn't the best or biggest one ever, but good nonetheless. Notable due to their absence were Conor (no reason), Blondie (debs), Dave (work) and Karl L, Angela and John McGann, but they never turn up anyway.

This left the turnout at an acceptable 8: Al, Warren, Paddy, Kev, Ger, Colin, Karl Kelly and Zack, although Ger had neiter the money nor the "gear" to play. So 3 on 4 it was, and the teams for the first 2 games were the Jammy Dodgers and Kev versus Al, Colin and Karl (who had a bad back, and other problems...) The JDs and Kev won both games, the first by 135pts (with 3 bases) when Red, and the second by 27pts when Green. Both were Supercharge 3, half hour long games. As was the next one, which was Al, Kev, Warren (Red) versus Colin, Zack and Karl (Green). Ger wasted the remaining film in Al's camera, before this game had even begun. On to the game itself, and the Red team (naturally) won, despite making a bad start, by 126pts. The packs and guns where as to be expected when the staff go away for a weekend, not great, but there weren't to many problems anyway. Al sat out the last game because had he played he'd be bored (says a lot for the standard), so it was a 3 on 3 - Kev, Paddy, Zack (Green) versus Karl, Colin, Warren. The red team won, surprisingly by almost 100pts (96 to be exact), thanks in a large part to Karl's not so secret weapon, and the Green team's inability to get over said weapon. That said, it was a pretty good regs night, with 3 × 30 minute games and 1 × 20 minute game to finish.

All things going to plan, we should have South Shields photos as taken by Al McMahon and Company developed and ready to go on site by early next week. That said, I just need the free time to do so. "It smells so bad it hurts!!"
