Regs night was ok, with 9 people playing (Al, Blondie, Kev, Karl K, Ger, Warren, Paddy, Zack, Ben) and non-playing appearances from Colin & Dave. Only six of us were present for the 1st game, so it was a 3v3 E2 game for 20 minutes. Al, Paddy, Warren (Red) versus Kev, Ger, Zack (Green). The Red team won quite comfortably by 94pts. For the next game Karl & Ben had arrived, so the teams were Kev, Ben, Warren, Zack(Red) versus Al, Karl, Ger, Paddy (Green). The same game format was played, and the Green team won by 85pts.
Blondie had bothered to show up in time for the third game, unlike Jay who didn't show despite Ben's insistence that he would, and teams were picked - Kev, Warren, Ger, Blondie (Red) versus Al, Paddy, Karl, Zack & Ben (Green). The format this time was 30 min Super 3. For the most part it was a close game, but team disagreements over tactics (along with bad tactics) cost the Reds the game. The Green team pounced on this, and won by 95pts. A return leg was called for, and duly came, so the teams were Al, Paddy, Karl, Zack & Ben (Red) versus Blondie, Kev, Warren & Ger (Green). Despite getting the only base of the game (thank you!), the Greens were unable to turnover the result from the previous game, and the Redswon by 53pts.
For the final game the teams were changed slightly, with Zack and Warren switching teams. Kev, Zack, Ger & Blondie were Green, while Al, Karl, Warren, Paddy & Ben were Red. Another close game for the most part, although the improvement in motivation for the Greens (brought on by Zack's desire to "beat" Warren) saw them keep a 100pt lead for the most of the game. Although the Reds had begun to make a comeback, a single base for the Greens (thank you, again!) helped them to increase their lead and demoralise the opposition with only a few minutes to go. The final score saw the Green team win by the biggest margin of the day, 127pts.

An SMC update, for the first time in months!! Although it is only really half an update, since I missed the first 2 games with being in bed and all. As per usual with SMC these days, the teams for those two games were manufactured such to give Al a hard time, but he (and his team of course)came through them both to have him heading towards 4 straight SMCs without defeat.
For those 2 games it was 5 on 4, then 5 on 5, and after the last of the late arrivals came we were presented with the opportunity for 6 on 6. The 12 people were: Al, Kev, Conor, Ger, Angela, Paddy, Karl L, Warren, Zack, Keith, Ben & Scully (yes, Scully!). Perhaps another comeback is on the cards....
Anyway, the teams for the next game were Al, Paddy, Ger, Angela, Ben & Keith (Green) versus Kev, Conor, Scully, Zack, Warren & Karl L (Red). It was a fabulous game, a kind of technical battle with a lot of good quasar on show, and a frequently fluctuating scoreboard. For the most part of the game the greens had their noses just in front with the Reds coming back and then losing their small lead again, and that's how it ended, with the green team winning by 15pts. Not one person failed to enjoy the game.
So a return leg had to be played then, same as before (20min E4 6on6) but with a colour switch: Kev, Conor, Scully, Zack, Warren & Karl L (Green) and Al, Ger, Angela, Paddy, Keith & Ben (Red). Like the first it was a very enjoyable game, and another battle, but this time the Green team (having lost the first game) had a bit more in reserve, and slowly built a lead that eventually won the game by 102pts. And so came about the end of Al's winning streak - my work was done.
Next Sunday -- The "Challenge Match" will take place. Earlier this month we randomly drew 2 teams out of a hat, both consisting of 10 players. This coming Sunday, the first in a series of 6 on 6 E4 Challenge Matches will take place, so everyone should make a serious effort to attend. Make-hatch-blow-now is at 8.00pm sharp.
"I called my good friend Sting.
He said, ``Krusty, when do you need me?''
I said, ``Thursday.'' He said, ``I'm busy Thursday.''
I said, ``What about Friday?'' He said, ``Friday's worse than Thursday.''
Then he said, ``How about Saturday?'' I said, ``Fine.''
True story!"

Regs Night "overview": 7 people showed up and played yesterday, with a lack of Dave (work?), Colin (broken finger - and ass apparently!), Conor ("Something has come up"), Paddy (moneyless), Ben (maybe Karl was a bit too forward) and other people who never usually show - Angela, John, Karl L. So the 7 of us were: Al, Kev, Karl, Blondie, Ger, Warren & Zack. We managed to squeeze in 4 games (despite the newbie employee's longing to leave on time), 3 of which were 30 minutes in duration, while the last was a 20 minute game. All games were Supercharge 3.
The first game got under way very late (at around 8.40pm) and the teams were Al, Warren & Zack versus Kev, Karl, Blondie & Ger. As I predicted beforehand, the Red team were at too much of a disadvantage from the start, and the green team won by 119pts. Although we made it a lot harder for ourselves than it should have been.
The second game was Al, Kev, Zack & Ger versus Blondie, Karl & Warren. From start to finish it was pretty much a walkover (the only reason the Green team got to 192pts was Ger and Zacks "insistence" on trading lives) and the Red team won by 281pts.
For the 3rd game the teams were picked again, and ended up being changed only slightly - with Al & Blondie switching (as did colours). Unfortunately for Blondie this helped to highlight the difference between the 2 players. Having won the previous game by almost 300pts, the team of 4, with Blondie this time, lost by 3pts.
The last game would've been Zack, Warren & Karl versus Al & Kev, with Blondie & Ger sitting out, but since Zack wasn't in the mood it ended up being a standard 2 v 2. The green team won by 157pts.
Good news is that there were very few pack problems, although with 7 players there are only 7 packs being used, and that might be a factor in why there were no major complaints. Until Sunday, when I will be making my short return to SMC, and this "Challenge Match" will probably not be played."What? What? What what what what what? This better be about pizza."

We had another good regs night turnout yesterday,
(having had 5 × 6on6 E4 games last week, with 13 people showing up in all: Al, Kev, Dave, Blondie, Chris, Karl, Colin, Philly, Ger, Paddy, Zack, Warren & Ben)
with 11 people participating in all. All games were 20 minutes in duration, and Supercharge 3 in format. The first game pitted Conor, Dave, Ger, Karl & Ben versus Al, Blondie, Paddy, Zack & Warren - with the Green team winning pretty comfortably in the end. The next game was almost the same teams, with Kev, Dave, Ger, Karl & Ben beating Al, Conor, Blondie, Paddy, Zack & Warren by 126pts.
For the next game Karl & Kev picked, and the teams ended up being Kev, Dave, Conor, Paddy, Ger & Ben versus Karl, Al, Blondie, Zack & Warren. The Green team won comfortably by 206pts, and we switched colours because Karl somehow thought it would help his team win. Although it was a different story, Kev, Dave, Conor, Paddy, Ger & Ben won the second game aswell, although by a lot less (23pts), thanks to good tactics from Al, Blondie, Karl, Warren & Zack.
The final game was probably the worst of the night (although still quite good), and saw Karl, Dave, Kev, Zack & Warren versus Al, Blondie, Conor, Ger & Ben (Paddy sat it out). The Red team won by a mere 9pts. Highlights from the night include the 3rd & 4th games, Blondie getting hurt (it's always entertaining) and Zack NOT getting a base. Until next week, although first I should say Happy Birthday to Angela Dwane, who turned 22 this week. "When are you going to give up this crazy sugar scheme?"
