Hmmm. It's been almost 3 weeks (with not much going on other than the usual - SMC & Regs Night). Anyway, I missed out on last week's update due an extreme bout of laziness, but it wasn't that bad a regs night at all. There were 12 of us in all: Dave, Al, Kev, Conor, Ger, Paddy, Zack, Peanut, Colin, Ger, Warren, Keith. We played the usual amount of games, and the quality was quite good.

Now on to yesterday: The awkward number of 9 people played: Al, Kev, Dave, Colin, Peanut, Warren, Ger, Keith, Ben, although the first game was a 4 on 4 supercharge, since Ben had not yet arrived. The teams were Kev, Colin, Peanut, Warren (Red) versus Al, Dave, Ger, Keith (Green). For the majority of the game it was very close, with the vast majority of the play being on the red side, but in the final 10 minutes the Green team stretched ahead, eventually winning by 159pts.

The second game was a disaster (since Ben & Keith picked) with Al, Dave, Ger, Peanut & Keith (Red) versus Kev, Warren, Colin & Ben (Green). Obviously, the Red team won by a huge amount (342pts), with the game over after just 10 minutes.

Teams were switched again for the 3rd game - Al, Ger, Colin, Peanut & Ben (Green) versus Dave, Kev, Warren, Keith (Red). The Red team won by 122pts, despite that they had 1 less player (or maybe because). The colours were switched for the last game, and the same team won again (this time Green) but this time the margin was far less severe - 16pts on the final download. All in all not bad, and although they won't thank me for mentioning it, there were 2 players who failed to win a game all night - Colin & Ben. "You see, killbots have a preset kill limit. Knowing their weakness, I sent wave after wave of my own men at them until they reached their limit and shut down."

Last Night we were supposed to play the 4th game in the series of challenge matches, but the game was forfeited by Team B (Kev, Al, Conor, Blondie, Karl, Warren, Keith, Ben, Jay, Martin) since only 5 of their team showed up. As a result of this, we are tied at 2 wins each, which means that the next challenge match (pencilled in for April 11th) will be the decider. Regardless of outcome, that match will be the last with these teams, and we will be orchestrating new ones. Anyway, before I get onto the inconsequential games that we did play, I thought I'd name and shame the no-shows or unavailable players: Al, Conor, Blondie, Angela, John, Paddy, Karl L, Ben, Jay.

Since 11 of us did turn up, we chose not to waste the opportunity, and play 2 × E4 15 minute games of 5v5. The teams were Dave, Ger, Zack, Bort, That Guy (Team A) versus Kev, Karl, Warren, Keith, Martin (Team B). Team B won the first game by 55pts, and went on to lose the return by 177pts. The team who were Green won both games - coincidentally the Green side won all the games last wednesday also. "Stickin' together is what good waffles do."

Yesterday being Wednesday and all it was Regs Night, and we played 4 games (all E4), and 12 people played. They were: Al, Kev, Colin, Blondie, Craig, Ger, Paddy, Peanut, Zack, Warren, Keith,Ben. Karl Kelly and Dave Shiels also made brief appearances but didn't play. On to the first game then:

Blondie was yet to arrive so it was a 5 on 6, with Kev, Craig, Warren, Zack & Keith (Red) versus Al, Colin, Ger, Peanut, Paddy, Ben (Green). It was only a 20 minute game, and the Green team won by 115pts (although they probably should have won by more. The teams were the same (basically) for the next game - Al, Colin, Ger, Peanut, Paddy, Ben (Red) and Kev, Craig, Blondie, Warren, Zack, Keith (Green) in a half hour game, and the Green team came back to win by a whopping 421pts.

For the 3rd game, the teams were Al, Colin, Blondie, Paddy, Warren, Peanut (Red) versus Kev, Craig, Zack, Ger, Ben & Keith (Green). It was another 30 minute game, and the Green team won, thanks mostly to a tight defence and a 28 base attack. The margin of victory was 150pts. The last game was the same teams - different colours, and although Al, Colin, Blondie, Padddy, Warren and Peanut won the game (by 122pts) they lost overall. Thanks to the staff member who set the game for 20 minutes instead of half an hour.

The next organised Challenge Match will take place this Sunday Night at 8pm, as usual the games will be 15 minutes, E4, Quasar 500 rules, with the 2 teams fielding 6 players from their respective squads of 10. So far, team B are winning the "series" by 2 games to 1 (4 legs to 2) and a win for them this weekend will give them a win overall (it being the best out of 5). If that happens, we'll create 2 new teams randomly and have the first game in our second series next month. But we'll have to wait and see what happens on Sunday. "So I said to him, 'Look, buddy, your car was upside down when we got here. And as for your Grandma, she shouldn't have mouthed off like that!'"
